About Us

In July 2021, the Dixie Fire came through Plumas County, destroying homes, forests, and businesses.Dixie Fire Stories was created by two local women to bring attention to the impacts of wildfire on rural communities.

We use a multimedia approach, highlighting Joanne’s experience as a photographer and Sara’s skill with editing, to tell residents stories, the raw devastation and heartbreak, without the filter of politics.

We seek to follow these experiences from the start of the Dixie Fire to their new beginnings, from their loss to recovery, and to use these stories to connect people, to use their hearts as a catalyst for change, and support.
